Introduction
Hello, and welcome to ‘Learn to Play Guitar: The Ultimate Guide to Mastering the Basics and Beyond’. First thing’s first, I just want to say a big thank you for trusting me and checking out this course. I’m positive the information presented here will provide a foundation for you as a guitarist that can be built upon for years to come.
Before we get started, I just want to talk briefly about my experience when I first started playing guitar at age 13. My first two teachers were both friends from school, and one of them does rather well with his playing these days. However, the problem I had was they both taught me random ideas with no real consistency or connection to the big picture of how music works through the guitar. At the time, I thought nothing of it; I progressed well enough to play in a covers band within six months (we may have thought we sounded better than we were) and enjoyed playing and getting better.
Even though I really enjoyed playing and learning music, the holes created from not understanding a broader picture started surfacing in my playing after a few years when I realized all I could do was learn other people’s songs. I could read tablature and knew how to play chords and even solo, but I had no real understanding of technique, timing, or the fretboard, so when it came to improvisation or writing my own stuff I was at a loss, I just couldn’t do it.
Cutting a long story short, after countless hours of research and buying a lot of books from the guitar store in my nearest city (this was before we had high speed broadband, and I come from a small town in New Zealand so didn’t have access to a good teacher), I slowly started piecing the missing parts together.

So, with my trials and tribulations in mind, I have put together this Ultimate Guide to Learn to Play Guitar. It’s intended to set the groundwork of your playing and give direction; it’s where you should start and can ultimately be applied to whatever style you choose to pursue.
I’m not making any claims that you’ll learn in 7 days as the information presented can take quite some time to digest and click. However, we play guitar to play music, so for the fastest way of getting up and running, I expain throughout the things to focus on right now. The information contains the important knowledge I lacked when I started, but they’re not necessary for the physical playing of music in the beginning. The short-term concepts are to get you started, and the long-term concepts will keep you progressing. You’ll refer to this information for quite some time, but it will pay big dividends later down the track.
If, at any point, you’re unsure about anything, please contact me at https://fretfuryguitar.com/contact. I’ll try answer any questions ASAP.
Again, thanks for trusting me and I hope you enjoy.
